COVID-19 Vaccine Information

State and local health departments determine how vaccines are distributed. CHI LakeWood Health is participating in the administration of COVID-19 vaccines according to the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines for distribution. In accordance with CDC and FDA guidance, we have paused administration of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine. FAQs

When will the vaccine be available?

Vaccines to protect against COVID-19 are available now. The FDA has issued Emergency Use Authorizations (EUA) for the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson/Johnson. Distribution of the vaccine is determined by Minnesota Department of Health and CHI LakeWood Health – Public Health is participating in the administration of COVID-19 vaccines according to that distribution plan.

Boosters

The FDA has issued Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for both Pfizer and Moderna booster doses. Please review the guidance below on eligibility for a booster. Minnesotans who got the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine can get a booster shot at least 6 months after their second dose of vaccine if they are:

65 years and older.
Age 18 years and older and live in a long-term care setting.
Age 18 years and older and have underlying medical conditions.
Age 18 years and older and work or live in high-risk settings.

Is the vaccine safe?

At CHI LakeWood Health, safety is our priority, and we only administer vaccines that are recommended by the FDA as safe and effective. In accordance with CDC and FDA guidance, we have paused administration of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

When can I get the vaccine?

Vaccine eligibility is determined by state and county governments. As vaccine supply increases, vaccines may be more widely available to the public in the coming months. How is the vaccine given?

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses, administered three or four weeks apart. When a vaccine is given, information will be provided about when to get the second dose.
